Look over there on the right and you’ll see that its’ not 0 for the week or the month. YAY. Small. Small. Teeny. Tiny. Steps. I used to be able to run 3 laps around the ring at Fermilab. Sometimes I would do that run at like 2 in the morning. Ok, so what. So I [...] So here I am at CERN and I’ve immediately gone back to what I like to call Leah: The Undergraduate Years. Well..ok maybe like 80% that Leah…you know just the good parts. The parts where I was a NERD. You know rewriting all my notes from the day (yes. I do that), and working for [...] Wow. That was a rough two weeks for me. Maybe I’m getting old (I am) or smarter (that too!) but I just can’t do the 4 hours of sleep a night. Maybe once, but when I do it I am just a little bit more than a puddle the next day. I can’t do it. In [...] It’s really fucking tough having two professional people in a household and a baby. Not tough. Almost impossible. I mean I suppose that is the definition of tough…but I just want to make sure we are all understanding what level of tough I’m talking about. Just an example. When Lucy gets sick she gets a fever. [...] So Fermilab is cool right? It’s also about an hour away from my apartment. And so part of the deal of this new jobs is I get to work at Northwestern some days a week which is a very nice commute for me. No more shoving myself onto the el like a sardine! Yay! Win! However. [...] in 10 minutes! So my awesome 5am-11pm plan didn’t work out so well. Shocking right? Turns out I’m not 21 anymore. Damn. In fact I think the not enough sleeping got me pretty sick as I was out for the count on Tuesday this week. But then feeling a lot better yesterday. I don’t know. I think [...] For the most part we all work 9-5 (ish). But if you had your choice what would your pefect day be? Also what would your work space consist of? I am way more of an early morning person (thanks mom and dad!) than an afternoon person. I just am more focused for some reason. Maybe [...] Hey hey hey 5am. You are so pretty! I really like getting up early. I don’t like when I can’t get anything done. Jason and I tried to play ProjectEuler in javascript this morning. This is by far the weakest of the three languages that we are working with for both of us. This is bad for me [...] So what’s all this talk about software and knitting and baby Lucy and whatever else? Isn’t this a running blog? Wait…what is this blog? I started this blog back in grad school when Jason and I had desks in the basement of the D-Zero detector building, right next to the machine. Seriously. We had nothing, no phone, [...] All day at work, I hear about bugs coming from our QA department that are on the level of, “This header needs to move a little bit this way” “or that way” or whatever. Then I hear developers go, “OK just going to add is some CSS here” “or there” or wherever. I of course [...] |
