What. A. Great. One.

Well. That was just about the best weekend *ever*.

Now you all know that I love my weekends. They are a time to play with my husband, my baby girl, my city, my running shoes. You name it and I probably do it on the weekend. This weekend was no different.

Saturday was fun. Lucy and her friend Ethan had a little play date. Ethan is 8 months old, so about 2.5 months older than Lucy and it’s just hilarious to watch them together. We sat them next to each other and they just were so interested in each other. It was amazing.

But then we come to Sunday.

SUNDAY. It was 89 degrees! It wa the first summer day in Chicago. In short. It was awesome.

Dad and I went running and as usual the first warm humid day and then run didn’t go well. We aren’t letting it bother us. We are going to try again tomorrow. Him going in the morning and me going after work. We’ll get it done.

After Lucy took her morning nap we covered her in SPF and headed out. And stayed out for going on 6 hours. We walked all over the damn place. Went to lunch, went to the park, walked to the beach. We met up with my cousin Lisa. We tried to air our butts out (ok…well that was just Lucy) and peed all over the place, so then she gave the North Avenue Beach crowd a nice shot of her butt as we had to change her clothes. Then somehow she rolled around in some sand (we were on the grass…but there was sand in there), and got sand all over the place. But that’s just the feeling of summer. We walked all the way home but I think we were out about 30 minutes too long. She got cranky and just to show us loaded up her pants. She went to bed at like 6pm…hopefully she’ll stay asleep. But all that outdoor air, and no napping so she was beat.

It was just one of those days. I mean it was *the best*. I love Chicago all the time, but the summers have a special place in my heart, and this one was jut one of the best. Even more fun and amazing to share with my daughter. She’s growing up to be such  a city kid. I love it.

I wanted to write a whole post about how much I love parenting, and so on and so forth. But I don’t really know what to say except that it really is the best. Jason and I are kind of loners anyways….we say that we are our own wolfpack of 2 and Lucy made us a wolf pack of 3. Not that we don’t have really close friends, but it’s not like we were hugely popular and out every weekend. So adding in a baby has just added to the fun that is the JasonLeahExperience. I guess I don’t really know how to describe it.  I think with Jason and I keeping our lives pretty much the same as they were before the baby has helped to ease the fear of “OH MY GOD EVERYTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE”. It has of course, but our daily life isn’t all that different. I mean we aren’t stopping at Sheffields multiple evenings a week, but I could care less. Because when I walk in the door and that little girl gives me that giant smile I just about fall on the floor.

I don’t know. It’s just awesome. And the way Jason and I are doing it is even more awesome. Just because you have a kid, doesn’t mean that *everything* has to change. and if they do change, at least for us, it’s for the better. I love my wolfpack. They are by far the greatest.
