What a wonderful weekend! Saturday was pretty relaxed…or must have been because I can’t really remember what we did. I think we went running….but yeah don’t really remember. So let’s just talk about Sunday. Quickly because it’s almost time for working time.
Sunday I woke up at 5 and tried something new. Instead of waiting for baby to wake to feed her and then go running, I just pumped and then went to meet my dad at 6am at the train station. We took the el downtown and walked over to the Buckingham Fountain and then ran home from there as it’s 5 miles from there to about where Dad lives. We had a *great* run. Averaging about 11min/mile. I think the speed work that I have my dad doing once a week is helping. We’ll see if he continues to feel good. Oh that and ice baths. He does them!
From there I came home and opened my mother’s day gift from Lucy which was a robotic lady bug that I get to build! It will require soldering and everything. It’s awesome, but lots of teeny tiny parts. It’s going to have to be one of those do it all at once project things. Then the three of us went to Ann Sathers to meet up with Dad and Sue for mother’s day breakfast.
Then we had big plans to walk around the city but I was pretty tired from the run and Lucy’s eyelids were getting heavy so we headed home for naps instead.
Long long nap accomplished by everyone and then it was off to the park. And as we were walking around the Broadway/School intersection Jason and I looked at each other and asked, “Wait…where are we?” It totally felt like we were in a really small town. *Everyone* was out and about with their families. Everyone looked at me carrying Lucy in the papoose thing and said, “HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!” It was so awesome. This town is so friendly and I’m so happy that we are living here. Well I’m always happy for 10 months out of the year. Then January and February happen and I’m all, “Ok, what about San Diego?” But seriously Jason and I love big cities and we always say Chicago is a big city with midwestern values.
From our walk we went to a new park and had a hilarious time. Here are some pictures. Hey Gap representatives…don’t you want to use this child for new ads. Let me know!

I love my new camera. It was so easy to go out yeseterday. Jason just had the diaper bag with all of our things in them including the camera, phone, keys and a few baby things. Then I had Lucy in the Pikkolo carrier and off we went. I *highly* recommend the pikkolo carrier. I think we walked upwards of 4+ miles and there was no uncomfort with that. And as we all know Lucy is not a small child. But it’s so nice to not have to take a bunch of extra shit with us. Not that we don’t love the stroller we have, but sometimes it’s nice to just go with as little stuff as we need and the Pikkolo allows for that.
So that’s that. And thus we are at Monday.

Hello Leah and Jason happy first Mothers day to you for some reason I was surfing blogs today and found your updated one. Lucy is a little doll. All the best.
