This was my first week back to work and so it made the runs a little bit more challenging because I was already tired when I got home from work and the baby goes to bed pretty early and so running would take away more time with her. But it worked out great in the end. I skipped the Monday run and went right to Wednesday for a 3 mile run. Since it was really nice out, Jason went with me, and we took the baby in her jogging stroller. All the grandparents got Lucy the Baby Jogger Performance stroller and it’s *awesome*. We walked to the lake front path, then we ran 3 miles and walked home (stopping on the way back at Homemade Pizza Company…really I should own stock in that company as we go *all* the freakin’ time…can you say bbq chicken pizza!). So that was fun and we are going to try and always do the Wednesday runs with Lucy at least for a little while.
Today was 4.5 miles with wind screaming out of the north making the end of the run pretty challenging. We stopped early because the wind was just about stopping us from going anywhere. I was able to turn a sour end of a run into a positive by having us run quick for .1 miles and then walk for .1 miles, so a nice way to get some strides in. It sucks when runs are bad, but it happens and all you can do is try and either turn it into a better run (doing strides at the end for example) or just move on to the next one. In the three years I trained for the marathon, I always had bad runs, bad days whatever. I always have to remind myself that it doesn’t mean that I’m a bad runner…just having an off day.
This week we are tapering for the shamrock shuffle which is on Sunday. Should be a great time and I’m excited to run my first race with my Dad. Lucy and Jason will be spectating this year.

Thanks for making it “WE” had a bad run. I felt like I was running underwater when we went into the wind. I agree about the strides. Good way to make a bad run good . . .and make dad sore the rest of the day! Onward!
