This has been a great week of training. Personally I was able to get all of the miles in and Dad almost did except on Wednesday he mistook the my stepmom’s allergy pill bottle for the ibruprofin bottle and so just about fell asleep on the lakefront path during his run. I was a little bit worried about today’s run because my Dad has been having some stiffness in his lower right leg. I knew that last week we were probably going too fast and so we really slowed it down this week and that seemed to help. While he still felt some stiffness, it didn’t stop him from running. I am still having that ball of my foot pain which I don’t get. It almost feels like that part of my foot is really swollen even though it’s not. Weird. Again nothing keeping me from the miles, but a very big annoyance.
We are two weeks from the Shamrock Shuffle and both looking forward to it. This will be my first race since the 2007 Chicago marathon.
I also found a great Garmin program that is Mac only. It’s called rubiTrack and it’s all mac-y and wonderful. I have only looked at the free trial version but am already thinking that it will be totally worth the $40. It seems slightly buggy at times (showing that I had two runs in a day when I didn’t…and it’s weird because it even has two different dates on the run….) but other than that it’s really good. Way easier than stupid SportTracks and all pretty. Here are some screen shots from the program:
Total miles this week as seen in the little graph up there about 9.3. Next week is another increase and then we’ll take it easy for the week before the race, in good taper fashion.
Tomorrow it’s back to work for me. Plan for now is to run after Lucy goes to bed so I don’t miss any time with her. As soon as the weather makes the turn for the better, Jason and I and Lucy will all go together using the swanky running stroller which I think will be a fun time. This week is doable if the rain stays away, so we might give it a try on Wednesday.

hey Leah – love that program rubiTrack. Question -what kind of garmin device do you have which collects the running data?
- Rob
ps. hope all is well with the little one! cute! hi to Jason!
I use a Garmin 205.
Sweet tracking problem! I am sad that they don’t have one for Windows 7.
Good luck running the Shamrock Shuffle. I won’t be running it this with Josh because we will be returning from our honeymoon in Maui. I hope you have nice running weather on race day.
